Calmac Customer Update – 12 June 2020

“We’ve been sharing regular updates with our customers as Scotland takes its first phased steps to move carefully out of lockdown – and as you know, we are operating an essential lifeline services timetable until at least 30 June 2020.

This week, the tourism industry was given more clarity, allowing it to begin to prepare for the next stage of gradual lifting of restrictions. At the same time, we are continuing to work closely with the Scottish Government and Transport Scotland to establish the next phase of our timetable.

However, things won’t go back to ‘normal’. The next stage of our timetable will still look very different. As we’ve mentioned in previous updates – our capacity will continue to be dramatically constrained.

We are implementing Scottish Government and Transport Scotland travel and transport guidelines. These rules – which include 2 metre physical distancing requirements – will control the number of passengers we can carry on a sailing.

We are working hard on the details behind the scenes – including consultation with our island communities and tourism representatives. We will share more details with our customers on arrangements over the next two weeks – by email and via our social media and website.

Covid-19 has changed day to day life and as we all work together to manage the ongoing risk, safety will come first.”
